Hi Guys

I would appreciate some input on a possible second hand car purchase and whether it would be worthwhile. The car in Question is a 2014 model 2 liter Diesel Tiguan with 209K km on the odometer. However, apparently the majority of the distance (bit more than 150K km) was on long road trips. The timing belt was also changed at around 150K km. The current asking price is R175,000 with the full service history available.

I unfortunate do not have any experience with diesel cars so not sure how good a purchase this would be or if it would be better avoided? ARe there perhaps any specific points that should be considered? Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Diesel cars can last very long, or leave your pocket empty really quickly :P

Those VW diesel normally go on working for a long while, its the transmissions that you need to worry about.
If it is manual it should be fine, DSG at that mileage can be on its way out.

R175k? New car brother!

There are only three possible new cars for R175k
New Renault Triber - R175k brings you the mid range model, but it won't suit everyone
Kwid Climber - comes in at R165k it's apparently still not up to snuff
Datsun Go - Though a little more refined from it's original at R175k it's a bit eh still.

Even the H1 which last year was about R170k is now R180k, the Sandero starts at R190k. A decent demo model Haval perhaps would touch R175k but it would be an H1.
