Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone here knows how heavy on the bandwidth playing Second Life is please? I'm on Telkom ADSL 512 with a 3gig cap.

Thanks very much,
Ruby.

But I'm a sad git and still need to figure out the bandwidth thing, if anyone can help.

I don't know about second life but the first life doesn't take any bandwidth www.getafirstlife.com

Hahahahaaaa!!!!!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!! Nice one! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Anyways, I tried it, to see what all the hype is about... After about one minute I decided that my first life was much better.

Err... Also, had constant lag, worlds didn't load completely etc.

On 384k...

Second life takes a A LOT of bandwidth. It's equivalent of streaming youtube...
Reason is the entire world on there is 'custom' made and changes all the time, the entire game is basically one big "map editor" .

With WoW/Guildwars etc you have "set" areas [buildings/objects etc stay the same], not so in Second Life. Players build houses and castles and create objects [as in anything you can think of and can manage to code/design] . So
everwhere you walk you'll notice it's re-generating the areas/objects almost from scratch.

buddy of mine plays it quite a lot on weekends and evenings. It's costing him just over 2gigs a month. say about 100MB an hour.
