Second night with bad IRC pings .. Muizenberg ..

I have 3g since mid September .. and so far, apart from occational hikup .. it worked fine. I love to play trivia on irc. I am ok with pings up to about 5 seconds .. i.e. irc /ping myownnick), but last night and tonight so far it is extremey eratic .. varies between 0 and 47 seconds, quite rapidly .. and some pings never return to me. Weird.

Only in South Africa are pings of 5 seconds considered OK!

There's currently quite bad congestion on the Cape Town link and most of us down here will be seeing low throughputs. The lines to JHB have been scheduled for upgrade a few weeks ago already but are still awaiting Telkom availability

On the subject; the internet links are due for a massive hike in the next week or two.

Not sure its only CPT affected, shocking latency with msn in JHB as well, as much as 30seconds for a message to be delivered and constant disconnections.
