Secret Facebook experiment on users

Que outrage and threats to quit but then don't quit.

Hopefully they will use the outcome of the research to reprogram our minds for more positive and objective thoughts? They will probably sell it mostly to other companies as well. Makes life so much more interesting. :)

People get "creeped out" easily these days. I think it is a pretty cool experiment.

Agreed, interesting experiment. Explain a lot about some of what I see on facebook, I think.

That said, they should experiment a bit about how many people actually really respond to the ads. Now that is something I would like to know.

The study basically shows that like follows like, something we see on MyBB quite often where the first response to a news article often sets the tone for the rest of the thread.

Don't agree.

Btw you seem bitter about MyBB nowadays.

I think it's an artifact of two characteristics, 1) the inherent assumption that the previous comments were a true reflection of the original article and 2) reluctance to read it yourself.

There will often be cutting comments but as the thread progresses level headed comments even it out. All in all it balances out to reflect reality.

Perhaps you don't like some of it, doesn't mean there isn't truth in it.

I think you're wrong :erm:

Don't underestimate the thinking capability of MyBB'ers just because you don't like what we have to say ;)

MyBB is probably running a similar experiment on some if us, that will explain why Vodacom and Multichoice people have it in for us :p

what do they think advertisers, political spin-doctors, pr companies have been doing for decades in tv, radio and print

Zacly, "emotional contagion" = democracy in action.

Nah, not in the news section. Vodacom and Multichoice (as well as a few other Big Broth... businesses) only have themselves to blame for their bad decisions and poor attempts at spin-doctoring.

PD section is ripe for experimentation on the other hand :D
