I'm trying to connect to my company email server using my laptop/vodafone datacard.

I can send send mail via unsecured smtp (ie. smtp.saix.net) without a problem so it's not a 'connectivity' problem.

My company email server uses SMTP (port 25) but requires TLS to authenticate me. The error message that I get from Thunderbird goes something like

..Unable to connect to SMTP server via STARTTLS since it doesn't offer STARTTLS in EHLO response...

When I connect using ADSL instead of Vodafone I can send mail via company email server without a problem.

Is this a problem with the datacard? Any advise?

Are you sure its port 25 and not 465?

Thanks

Sorry to rehash an old topic.. but thanks for suggestions. The solution was to get Vodacom to change the APN from 'internet' to 'internetVPN'. I then changed it on the modem advanced options.
