Parts of the Nkandla report pose a security threat, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela said on Wednesday.

"The document had submissions that indicate that in the opinion of the ministers there are provisions in the provisional report that constitute a security breach," she told reporters in Pretoria.

She was speaking after the security cluster of ministers submitted a 28-page response to her provisional report on the upgrade of President Jacob Zuma's private Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal.

She received the submission from the minister of police on behalf of the security cluster of ministers on Friday.

So she says "they say there is a security breach"...

But that doesn't mean there really is?

Anyway, we knew they were going to try and stop this at all costs.

Nkandla report row 'not healthy' : Madonsela

Things could have been handled differently -- in hindsight -- around the provisional report on Nkandla, Public Protector Thuli Madonsela said on Wednesday.

"It did not sit well with me to read in newspapers that my office was fighting with the ministers," she told reporters in Pretoria.

"Such conduct is not healthy."

The security cluster of ministers tried to assert their right to vet the provisional report on security upgrades at President Jacob Zuma's private Nkandla homestead in KwaZulu-Natal, Madonsela said.

In the event of a deadlock they wanted the court to tell the public protector what to remove and what to keep in the report.

"This is at odds with the Constitution," she said.

"I'm saddened that it landed up in court."

Madonsela said her office and government now had the task of rebuilding trust and putting the unfortunate court drama behind them.

"Organs of state have a constitutional responsibility to help my office to live up to its constitutional mandate."

She said she received a 28-page response from the cluster ministers on Friday, as promised.

"On Friday... I received a 28-page submission from the minister of police on behalf of the security cluster of ministers.

"The document had submissions that indicate that in the opinion of the ministers there are provisions in the provisional report that constitute a security breach."

This is misleading. She said they said there's security breaches, she didn't say there are herself. She actually says they went to efforts to ensure there aren't. Silly SAPA.

Madonsela not obliged to submit reports to Parly

The law does not make provision for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to submit her reports directly to Parliament, she said on Wednesday.

"The Executive Members Ethics Act does not make provision for the public protector to submit reports to Parliament," she told reporters in Pretoria.

"I had pointed out that there was a challenge regarding the security cluster receiving the report."

Madonsela said she failed to see how "sharing the truth" compromised President Jacob Zuma's security. Her office had been accused of launching parallel investigations, she said.

"Effectively, the accusers are saying my office is squandering public funds. The opposite is the truth."

The provisional report is on Madonsela's investigation into the R206 million security upgrade of Zuma's private residence in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal.

Last week, the security cluster withdrew its urgent court bid to prevent Madonsela from releasing the provisional report to affected, implicated and interested parties for comment.

Madonsela's provisional report was given to the security cluster ministries on November 1.

This followed a special request that it have access to the report ahead of all other parties to establish if its contents would compromise Zuma's security. The return date for comment was November 6.

Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said in a founding affidavit that Zuma's safety would be compromised if Madonsela released the provisional report without state comment.

If all of the nation knew and understood what this man actually did then yes, his life will be in danger. Unfortunately 90% of the population do not have a clue what all the boohaa is about because there is light when Zuma stands up.

I honestly wish someone would seriously bomb the ANC offices when everyone is there and get rid of all of them.

I would feel nothing, appalled how they "run" the country, we are the next Zim

And so another report berried. Nice. Zuma can do as he pleases and just have these reports berried.

And there were actually people on this forum who thought, for one moment, that this woman would stand her ground and issue a report against the president of this country. Lol!

But, on a more serious note, this is more than enough now to have the document classified as a state secret and file it where no one will ever see or hear from it again.

Way to go corrupt f**kers...

no hope in this country or government Im afraid

Well, when many people said this 15-20 years ago no one wanted to believe them, however, we are there now and you are correct. There is no hope for this country.

She indeed has.

I posted elsewhere a few days ago that she will be forced into doing whatever government wants her to do. If she does not do this, her future will be on the line. I dealt with government before, I personally witnessed their threats and intimidation. I have see how they get rid of those who do not do things the way government wants it done.

Many thought she is/was independent and cannot be touched by government, however, she still works for them and that is the bottom line.

Only way we can fix this is to make sure out votes count next year. Other than that there is little the man on the street can do to stop this gravy train.

The ANC has once again proven that they are above the law and that they will 'deal' with anybody who even think of stopping this looting of the state coffers.

Although I want to make it very, very clear that I am not against voting, I also want to make my opinion very clear.

The ruling ANC government will not allow any political party, consisting - let alone leaded by - a white person to win this or any other election. Should this ever become a reality you can expect a huge number of vote rigging by government, elections results challenged and tying things up in an endless court battle, which will in any event just end up in a new election that will be rigged again.

The ANC government made this much very clear that it will never happen again.

As for any other political party, there is none that will be able to bring the country to its feet again. The power of corruption will just be transferred...
