Security camera recommendations

If the IR needs some boosting :

ah ok, that's pretty cool, but then the difference is not that much to the full color camera. I'll check it out thanks

For now, that all things are running without issue, I am happy with my decision. At the time, I would have considered Hikvision as an alternative. It is an accessible product. I can walk into any place that specializes in security, and Hikvision would be an option.
Im Currently looking into trying out vigi, I have been using two tapo cameras this far and have tired out two ezviz cameras....one a older 2023 model h3k 3k which was very poor at detection, specifically human detection...around 5m on average n at best 6 or 7m the newer ezviz h90 model which gave me around 17-19m and my current older tapos (c325) which gives me around 13m, do you have any idea whats the detection range, specifically human detection for your vigi cameras...essentially whats the maximum range at which your vigi cameras detects humans and sends you a notification. Any estimates would be appreciated...I would hope it's better then the tapo cameras I have.

Bullets and ptz cams....which ever seems to be your best

Reolink cameras generally review well with excellent image quality and they're pretty affordable too. I have their doorbell camera and it's really good.
Wondering if your reolink doorbell is still going strong? Mine is just out of warranty and has a problem with the image being blurry all the time. The lens doesn't appear scratched and have wiped it down. I've tried resetting it, firmware up to date.

Reolink offered me some cash off a new camera but don't want to buy another one that only lasts a year or two.

Ye, mine also has issues but not with the lens. Mine becomes unresponsive like once a week where the chime no longer gets triggered if someone presses the button and the video feed dies. It's fine after a restart so I've set up an automation to restart it once in a while. I'm not sure if it will last much longer but hope it lasts long enough until the new Unifi doorbells are available.

That's disappointing. It's a nice-looking unit, easy to integrate into HA, and reasonably priced. Unifi doorbells seem great but that price is hard to justify! Are you waiting for the G5?

I thought I was going mad. Chime also stops working for me after some time. Never drilled it down to a timeframe but a week sounds about right.

I had the same issue, luckily was replaced but apparently it was water ingress (evaporation) from the rear. Not sure if it's the same problem for you but that is what I experienced

think it's this too. I'll take it off and see if I can dry it out somehow.

Not going to say don't try but there is no way to get in there unless you plan on complete disassembly. (which not sure is possible but I never tried)

Well, at this point, it's out of warranty and blurry. so, hardly working anyway. if I completely toast it, I may just have to get one of those unifi G6 that @yogidabear mentioned :D

So, I managed to disassemble the doorbell (fairly easily actually).

The front cover pops off and then there are six screws underneath that need to come out. the camera board then can be unscrewed as well as the lens assembly. The lens assembly has a 2 wire electrical connection, but I assume this is for IR filtering and not focus (would expect more than 2 wires for that)? I cleaned the sensor and the back of the lens and then reassembled everything.

Picture is definitely better now but not perfect. I didn't notice any visible condensation though.

Anything changed/new in the camera market. I bought the Wyze V3 a few years back, does the job. Only downside is the 5 minutes between motion/person detections, that I need a subscription to fix. I'm thinking of getting the V4 on another spot, but the 5 minute thing is making me rethink Wyze. The SD card thing does work for evision, though.

Any decent cameras that has Person and motion detection alerts, with no cool down between alerts? Decent price will also be a pro.

Jumping in here, anyone that can recommend a camera with excellent night quality. Thieves like annoying our neighborhood at night and can never get a clean and clear image of the person.

Thinking vari focus but not sure if those can auto zoom on people.

FYI, mine one day just started working fine again. I didn't do anything or update firmware nothing but I haven't had it freeze up in months now 🤞

Yeah mine is still on and off (probably related to distance), but I'm not too phased about it anymore. Have a HA automation with AI to send me notifications when someone rings.

You don't mention budget, but this one has some good zoom (if you can find stock): https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-unifi-protect-g6-ptz-8mp-black-ip-camera-uvc-g6-ptz-b.html
I was looking at the G6's but that is a bit out of budget and given it hangs over into the street (albeit not at a easily reachable height) I would likely have sleepless night wondering if it's been stolen.

Something like that may be good for a sort of "overwatch" though, mounted on the roof.
