Can you store the messages on the memory card, then just remove the memory card and take it with you? Alternatively, try searching google for 'file encryptor nokia 5800' without quotes.
 
Set a phone unlock code (so you need to enter a code to unluck the keypad) - An e71 has that feature - I assume that the XM has it too.
