Seeking advice on R11K self-built PC

Oh my. I wonder though, whether the gtx 580 is really worth an extra R1000,00 over the gtx 570. Isn't that only like a 10-15% performance boost?

Though tempting to have the power now, I think I'd rather just get the 570 now and possibly sli with another in a few years if I need it.

Or perhaps wait for next year and get the 600 Series that will be 3x Faster with the Keplar core ;)

Notice they also make a comment about performance RAM having virtually no impact on the newer Intel CPUs. Reiterates what I've been trying to say about performance RAM on this forum. But for some reason people still buy the significantly more expensive RAM.

Esquire has a special this week R226.86 for a Kingston 4GB 1333MHZ DDR3 module. Two of them would do nicely or even 4 if you have the cash (overkill tho).

The problem is the kingston ram looks like crap :p I'd rather pay more for one that looks nicer :)

LOL, that is where I differ with most of the forum. I like cases that are completely closed (no Window). No noise, very simple look. Definitely no over clocking. Quality components tho (My PSU is Seasonic X460, Asus P8Z68-v, etc. def. not cheap). So I don't mind much what they look like inside (hence my always buying the cheapest when it comes to GPU/RAM).

I think most people here do care what their systems look like inside and the name on the card.

Anyway just posted that link as some external input ;)
 
Hahaha ya I know I was actually just reading that article when you posted it.

I agree one should never pay a premium for a product when they can get one that performs the same for less. But there usually are small quirks in products and people that make them want something just because.

I'm kinda like that, I feel better buying an ASUS card instead of a Club3D or VTX3D.. No clue why, must be their good marketing :/
