I've been looking at the following 2 updates when I do periodic checks for Win. 7 updates, and can't decide whether to download them or not.
I have available bandwidth, so that's not a problem, but need informed advice, so to anyone who can, it'd be appreciated :

1. (Apparently) Important : Windows Live Essentials 2011 (KB2434419) 157.9MB (19/10/2010)
For Messenger, Photo Gallery, Mail, Movie Maker, Writer, Family Safety, Windows Live Mesh, Bing Bar, Outlook Hotmail connector, Silverlight.

However, all I use is Win Live Email - worth wasting 157MB for just that ?

2. Optional : Intel Corp. - Display-Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset 19.6MB (25/10/2010)

Skip the Live Essentials, you can download it later if you really want to use some of those apps. (Just right-click on the update & choose "hide"). You can enable it again if you want.

I would definitely download and install the Intel display driver. Windows Update will create a restore point before it installs the display driver, so if it doesn't work correctly, you can roll back the driver.

If you select the Windows Live Essentials to be downloaded a dialog will pop up during the installation process and ask you if you want to install ALL of Windows Live Essentials or if you want to select components. If you choose customise you can then check to only install the Win Live Email (which you said you use). it will then only download that portion... not the entire 157 Mb.

As stated above I would definitely grab the graphics driver update.

Thanks, Gary.
However, just tried it and it started d/loading the whole thing - no 'pop-up' box came up.
Don't know at which stage in the process it's supposed to occur, but I was already on 2% & nothing had happened, besides the (usual) d/load.
Not to worry - I've hidden it again.

Done it hundreds of times. It always comes up with the dialog box because you have to click to accept the terms and conditions. You must have accepted the terms and clicked through instead of selecting custom install.
