Self defense guns

Agree with this, made one small change, the Sabre Red directed gel is really effective when applied correctly.
A bit more difficult to use (you get training versions as well), but works well.

All of this while you get licensed for a decent firearm, and after.

These (tourniquet, gauze, pressure bandages, chest seals etc.) are more for you and your loved ones than others, and need to be at hand when needed else it is useless, and do not forget training in effective use of these, i.e. first aid training, stop the bleed training etc.

All of these items can still be useful when SHTF even if you carry a firearm, including a non lethal option like a good pepper gel.
i used to carry one (sabre)tin in the car ,it exploded one fine day ,made a fine mess in the cubby .brown and gooey.

I can imagine it would be an 'interesting' mess.

Have never left mine in the car, it gets too hot if the car is parked in the sun.

had a black widow (military grade )explode on the back shelf of a sedan many years ago ,it was parked in the depot car lot .took the window out of the frame .

Tactical self-loading crossbow with 5-8 bolt magazine is probably the best.

Howsit guys

Wondering if anybody knows off a good enough good that does not require a firearm license
Something to do enough damage to deter a potential home invader

Does such a gun exist?
Get a pibble. Of course, it might eat you and/or your children but that is probably the only thing that is second to an actual firearm.

A pebble? You want to stone the guy?

EDIT: Pitbull maybe?

Rather spend the money on training (eg. kravmaga) and securing your property.

In SA it is never a singular entity performing appropriation without compensation but always a group.

I have played paintball for 20 years and had the experience of being shot with solids by some gifted individual who "accidentally" mixed a few with his paint.
Other than leaving some nasty bruises it didnt stop me from confiscating said individual's marker and dragging him off the field for the marshals to sort him out.

Dont bring a toy to a gunfight.

Agreed. I've been hit during paintball matches and didn't even feel the shots in the heat of the moment. Now add drugs and adrenaline.. No thanks.
Also OP bear in mind, if you use these things the charges that can be brought to you is the same as pointing an actual firearm, in addition to allowing the criminal to use "self-defence" if he shoots you dead instead. No upsides here.

Don't forget to put a sight on your self-defense toy so you can accurately see the guy you pissed off before he shoots you.

Reactions: OCP
I'm just looking for something to cover me from now up until the time I'm licensed. Better something than nothing during this time
Get a quality knife, Baton and torch. I also keep a sharp panga in the bedroom for arms that come through windows and doors...congrats on getting a gun... Ive lived here gun free for over 3 decades but times have changed... Its you or them...

I have shot recreationally quite a few times but don't own a firearm. From all the gun owners I have ever spoken to, these are the recurring lessons I have learnt:

1) If you own a gun, be prepared to kill another human being
2) Practice often and as versatile as possible i.e. muscle memory, twitch-reflex and general maneuverability
3) Anything less than a gun is going to come off second best

I think a Byrna would be ok just like a slingshot would be e.g. scaring off an animal and for recreation/practice
