Self Install.
I ordered ADSL with the self install option with a new line last week.
Today they called to say that they were coming to install the ADSL, so im like JA i was kinda expecting this....
After a few conference calls, with the some technicall guys who were trying to tell me that i the guys who 'install the ADSL' have other 'technical' tasks to do from inside your house not only enable your line on the exchange, and thus i have to pay for the installation.
After pointless arguing, they eventually come to an understanding with the admin department.
You can only order a Self install DSL, if you already have the line. So i had to cancel my line and order another one , and once its in i can get Self install.
Oh an its at home..
I think the problem is that the frontline guys are not trained or trainable....
Ask to speak to someone else or someone who has been with telkom for atleast 2 weeks.
