Self Installation Telkom ADSL Restricted????

I am cancelling my ADSL request and have opted for iburst instead. I have a 5- light signal strength and I am happy to tell telkom to go to hell!

OK, lemme see if I have this straight...WHAT exactly is the R404 for? From what I understand the technician doesn't need to come to my house because I have already setup my modem/router and all I need is for telkom to activate my ADSL line and I'm set....what does he need to do at my home? I'm sure as hell not going to allow a Telkom technician to touch my PC that's for sure.

OMG!! Why didn't I hear about this self-install option!?!?!? Telkom don't even publicise it.

Surely it needs to be so that broadband can more cheaply reach the masses? I wonder if public schools know about this option? They could be saving their much needed money.... This pisses me off!!
