What do you mean you can't get through? Odd man!
see that is the problem you only waited 15mintues
they only start to answer calls that have been waiting over 30 minutes.
so you lucky if you get through in anything less then 45 minutes

Ja man. Pfft @ 15 minutes. C'mon man this is telskom. Dial the number again, go get a case of beers, drink them, stuff dinner up but eat it anyway and you should be almost there.

Nice URL, only wish I knew about it before and I would have gone for self installation! I was put off by self installation by having no patience for waiting on the phone for an hour to figure out my order status! This link would have changed everything

ok, so on the verify adsl page, it speaks about the self install option etc....but when you order adsl from telkoms website there doesnt seem to be an option for self install.
have they removed it, thus being deceptive in robbing you of another 400 bucks, or is it very well hidden...OR...should you order over the phone or at a telkom branch and specify the self install option?

afaik you can't request a self install from the online order form - you either need to request it by phoning them or going to the telkom shop. I went to the shop last week and requested a SI - its supposed to be done by tomorrow (thumbs and everything else crossed!!)

what is the exact point of the www.telksom.co.za/verifyadsl link? does it just inform you that your request has been processed on the system, or will you be able to track the status of your order?

It tells you when your line has been enabled for ADSL, which in theory means that the green light on your modem should stop blinking and stay on.
And I wouldn't rely on anything the Telkom site says. Everything is woefully out of date. It still says local is uncapped, which stopped being the case over a year ago.
