Looking for one that does the following.

DivX
WMA
WMV
MP3
DVDRW
USB Port

Must be a reputable brand name like LG, Samsung, Sony, Pioneer etc.

Why not get yourself a media pc? It will do all that plus more.

And it's 10X the price. I have an XBox 360 and a PC with Vista Ultimate as well, I also already have a DVD player that has everything except the USB which is paramount and makes watching series a lot easier and can fit more on my 40GB porta drive. Just waiting for the XBox to support DivX natively and all will be good. I'll get rid of everything else after that, might get a 2nd XBox for the bedroom for media services.

Cant you just stream your divx from your pc to your xbox then?

If not then why not get el cheapo dvd player and not a name brand - then you can dump it later when it's no longer needed.

No, XBox wont play DivX unless you use TVersity to convert from DivX to WMV on the fly. Uses a lot of PC overhead and doesn't work very well on Vista.

D-Link Media player ;) DSM-320 or DSM-510

I have one. Streams wirelessly or through ethernet. Has optical out. The 510 has HDMI. So only two cables(power and hdmi) are needed if streaming wirelessly.

Plays every xvid I have ever downloaded. Does the picture and mp3 streaming as well.

So my xbox is for games( as I don't see divx being supported on xbox anytime soon) and the media player for watching all my downloaded content.

Also have a dvd/divx player but since the media player, don't use it that often...

*There is also the DSM-320RD which has DVD player and card reader as well

Linkage please?

I have an LG

two models:

player only = R549 - PnP sells.
DVD PVR recorder combo type thing - R3000 (this is the one I have). Makro.
Makro also sells the R500 one.

Had it now 18 months or so - excellent buy.

Plays divX / XVID easily. avoid the HighDef ones etc as they dont all play - but those 400MB TV series things mostly all work

I have 2 of that exact model, one in the bedroom and one in the lounge. I specifically want one with a USB port.

What you going to use the USB port for? Hi fi Corp has a couple of those.
