I have a car that isn't running.

A contractor's labourer has offered to purchase the car for cash, so no problems there.

OTOH, it appears that he will be using 'contacts' to get a road-worthiness cerificate.

Since my responsibilities end (in theory, at least) when I hand in the yellow form: anything that I should be worried about ?

Remember to use the term voetstoots in the sale papers.

Also note in there that should the vehicle need any repairs it is for him to pay/sort out....

Do not bargain on the term 'voetstoosts' in itself. The term alone does not protect you. Let the buyer sign a contract where you detail the car being sold and at what value. This contract would need to include any known defects and the fact that the car does not start up/work at the moment. Keep a copy of the contract with the contact details of the seller close at hand ... you might still get traffic fines after selling the car and would need to redirect them to the correct person.

Yes, I forgot to mention that the sale document will be 'voetstoots' and will note that the car - when delivered - was not running. Plus a couple of pictures. I'm also going to want witnesses to sign ...
