Selling a car without papers

Hi, I have a similar issue. My late mother gifted me a Renault Sandero which is currently a non runner. When my mother passed October 2022 my father (who's whereabouts are unknown) went MIA with the letter of Authority since he was married in community of property. I am stuck as I wish to fix this car and use it as I'm in Tertiary but since I'm in this predicament I am now thinking of scrapping it for so that I can atleast get another used car of the same value. What can I do?

You can pretty much do nothing, the car is legally not yours, you cannot even scrap it.

If you can't get hold of your father and arrange the ownership change there is nothing you can do but simply move on.

I think the crux of the matter is that her father is probably the executor, not that he disappeared with the letter of authority.
