Pattern Matched Technologies (Pty) Ltd as an award winning WASP (Wireless Application Service Provider) , telecommunications and Fintech development house, based in the Midrand area, is seeking to appoint a senior IT Engineer responsible for the day-to-day management of the IT operations and infrastructure.
Primary Duties:
• Provide strategic direction to the team and lead and manage the IT function
• Proactively provide technological innovation by researching new/current technologies and considering the application within the function
• Keep abreast with strategic IM developments and advise accordingly
• Formulate policies, procedures and directives to govern the IT environment
• Develop and evolve IT Target Operating Model (Channels, Services, Enterprise Architecture, Information architecture, processes, structure) in line with business plans
• Ensure robust application, infrastructure and network security with tight control over access management and effective tracking of change logs
• Establish and implement a disaster recovery
• Ensure IT environment has sufficient capacity in line with business forecasted requirements
• Oversee the management of all IT projects
Skill-sets:
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organisation
• Ability to distill advanced security, networking, and investigative concepts down to principles that can be understood and applied by all audiences
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
• Basic understanding of computer languages• Ability to work both independently as well as on teams
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Information Assurance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related area of study; or four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required• Significant experience managing a professional level team
• 6+ years in Information technology
• Ability to convey complex technical security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with common programming languages, (BASH, Python, Go, Ruby, etc.) preferred• Basic knowledge of computer programming techniques and languages
• Expertise in High-Availability, Enterprise Systems (Dependability, Performance, Security, Endurability)
• Expertise in Linux/GNU Operations, Administration, Security/Integrity, Troubleshooting, Optimisation
• Expertise in Linux/UNIX Security: Intrusion Detection/Prevention, Filtering, Auditing, Recovery
• Proficiency in System Health Management (e.g. Puppet, Salt, Nagios, Icinga)
• Proficiency in LAMP-Based Systems
• Proficiency in Database Administration: MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL
• Proficiency in Virtualization using VMware, OpenStack products
• Experience with Policy/Procedure-Driven System Administration
• Introductory Knowledge of commercial and open source security tools preferred. (e.g. Nessus, Nexpose, SAINT, Qualys, Burp, Nmap, Kali, Metasploit, Meterpreter, Wireshark, Kismet, Aircrack-ng etc.
• Familiarity with many different network architectures, network services, system types, network devices, development platforms and software suites required (e.g. Linux, Windows, Cisco, Oracle, Active Directory, LDAP etc.) required
