Sennheiser, beyerdynamic or audio technica??

I didn't see you had an ST.
Then it's fine.

You should go for the DT990 250ohm.

Will I actually be able to tell the difference between that and my current HD202's ? (serious)

Love my Audio-Technica's but really all 3 brands have good models.

Let me ask it this way... how different can the sound be coming from non amp + HD202 to amp + DT990

I'll be coming for you for refund at ST PetersBurg if I can't tell :erm: :D

I produce music so I think I have an idea :D

Side note: 14 hours of extended gaming with DT990, feels like soft cushions.
14 hrs of gaming with HD202, blisters, severely sore ears, maybe deaf?

Lol, plus one for Electric's night and day comment. The HD202's pads were tiny and after an extended session they really hurt my ears. Just go and demo them yourself.

Got the 598's and they are incredible. Cannot go wrong with them, any music/movie/game you throw at it, it will produce amazing sound, and even better sound if you pair it with a nice sound card.

cant comment on others.

Same here, I have a pair of Sennheiser 598's and HifiMan HD 400's, and the sennies are first of all one of the most comfortable and svelte pair of headphones you'll ever wear. Extremely light and you can wear them for hours with no issues. On the audio front, they are absolutely amazing - because they are open headphones, the soundstage is huge. The amount of detail you'll hear is incredible.

Saw them irl today.... holy **** they look good and so much better than just pictures of them.

If you can give them a bit of a test drive, you'll probably buy it on the spot. I will say though, don't expect bass that goes doof doof - these aren't those kind of headphones (closed cans are more suited for that), but if you're after accurate, smooth mids and a huge sense of space, these are one of the best you can get for the money. I've heard some audiophiles say they prefer the sound signature on these to cans worth twice as much.

Been saying that for a while. Alas most gamers can't see beyond the 5.1 story. Well unless you ask them whether the .1 is in the left or right ear. That usually shuts then up.

excellent... man of steal 08 Terraforming is a lot better than especially the parts with low low base. sounded like **** on the 202's
