Got a new set of Sennheiser HD 205 headphones today! :D Excellent music quality now! I so do love music and making it sound better is a plus!!! Now I just need to replace this onboard card of mine. A friend of mine has the Creative Sound Blaster XFI Fatal1ty card...What do you think? Should I get one? The sound from it is exellent!

Happy! :D

The Fatality might be a bit of a overkill if all you want to do is listen to music.
The XFi XtremeMusic provides same sound quality it just doesnt have the XRAM and other gadgets, but it is more than sufficient for your needs.

But ja, i'd definately recommend XFi, especially with those headphones.

how much did they cost?

I need to get an external USB sound card for my laptop.

Yup! Sennheiser is the bee's knees! I've got a pair of HD590's and they truly are incredible. One little bug though... The plug that goes into the headphones is loose and it's a really small plug so I haven't been able to find a replacement. :(

I got an X-Fi Xtrememusic last week and was happily fiddling with music and gaming. Now my beloved 5-yr old HD-200's seem be failing, also due to a fault with the tiny plug in the left can. When I insert the plug fully, the sound in the right driver cuts out. It works when the plug is pulled out halfway, which is useless.

Hopefully some friendly person at Sennheiser's offices in Jhb can help me, else I'll be shopping around for either the HD-205's, or Sony MDR-V300's. All I want is great sound quality (10 - 20,000 Hz should do it), comfortable fit (which Sennies are not famous for) and durability (siggghhh). It seems that 2.5m and longer cords are the norm, which suits me too.

You should try a pair of Sennheiser HD 347 or even better 515, i have a pair of 515's and a pair of mx 500 for when im on the go. They are the best ever. I need to get SB Audigy 4 or even better.

Well all i can say is that with the sound card you have by upgrading your headphones you will get sound that will blow you mind away

Nocturity, u r truly serious about your sound HD590's. My dream pair is would be somthing out of the HD6XX range which i believe goes for more than R2K.

I wound up getting a pair of HD212 Pro's at New World in Menlyn too. Very very happy with the sound quality from these, compared to a set of HD202's which I tried out first.

I've had my Sennheiser HD500's for a year now - I love them. Excellent sound quality even with my onboard sound. :)
