Sensory integration disorders in children

So I came across something quite interesting. Dyspraxia and sensory integration disorder in toddlers.

Did some reading and studying and see it's an OT field. Got the the lectures from my OT colleagues

However I'm lacking experience from a parents perspective. If anyone has children with this disorder would you kindly share your journey.

So not 100% but it has been a while, my eldest suffered from this if I recall. He had it as a consequence of extreme prematurity and the forced overstimulation resulting from that ( born @ 27 weeks ).

As a toddler not so bad, it was picked up at around 3-4 and he had OT sessions to help cope with the over stimulation and being able to deal with it. The most common technique I can think of was something they called deep pressure. The goal was to have the child focus on themselves vs getting lost in the response and being unable to respond. It involved using a swaddle cloth or weighted vests, that helped reduce the stimuli or soften it.

He's 10 now and attends special needs school , nearly normal appearance to others but it's taken years of OT and speech therapies to get there. As a preschooler, he had two individual OT and Speech sessions a week as well as class sessions, all part of the school we enrolled him in, based of the feedback of his initial pre-schools and independent assessments.

I can probably find his initial OT reports when we were dealing with it privately before the school enrollment. What are you looking for exactly?
