Hey all

Today my Club 3D HD6870 arrived from the courier, but the one that Landmark Computers sent me isn't the one I ordered.

This is the one I ordered: http://www.club3d.nl/products/products_ending_page_7_with_id.cfm?product_id=345
Here's it on their site: http://www.landmarkpc.co.za/store/club-6870-radeon-hd6870-p-5788.html

This is the one I got: http://www.club3d.nl/products/products_ending_page_7_with_id.cfm?product_id=350
They don't advertise it on their site.

So what must I do? Must I tell them to take it back or just keep it since the specs are identical, it just looks different, the one I ordered has a smaller fan and bigger heat sink, the one I have has a much bigger fan on it.

Just inform the guys at Landmark PC.

I'd keep that model, because I really dislike the blower type coolers.

You'd be surprised to know how big the heatsink is underneath that big fan of the card that they gave you.

Thanks Pada, I have sent them an email informing them. I think I will keep it :)

They are closed now until the 11th of Jan..

edit: but you're keeping it so doesn't really matter :)

Wait they are the identical card by the looks of it, just the cooler is different? I'd keep the one you got, also the 6870 is a surprisingly good card, I got one at the beginning of the month and wow.

The one you received definitely has the better cooler. It's Club3D's custom one. Send them a thank you email. :)

well I must say it's a huge improvement from my HD4850, but it also runs a lot hotter and louder too :(

Idel temp: 46c
Underload: 61c

is that normal? my hd4850 would only get to about 55c

That is fairly hot for an idle temperature, but under load temperature is definitely OK. I don't have an HD 6870 myself, but I'd say that those temperatures are fine, seeing that my 2nd GTX 460 OC gets about 68'C under load.

Just check you fan speeds, because I had a problem where my Inno3D GTX 460's fan ran at a minimum of 2400rpm (instead of 1400rpm) which was already quite loud and after a few weeks of contacting Prophecy Shop and Inno3D it came out that that card's fan was defective.

Thanks Pada I think I'll just leave it and try and get used to it :p
