Sentech blames Government

I must applaud government for putting the screws on Sentech, these guys haven't done much for ages. They really do need to come up with some sort of workable plan ... even if it is to shut down that side of the business and focus on broadcasting.

Just as a matter of interest ... is anyone out there still on a MyWireless or Biznet service? If so, what's it like?

Yea, right, after chasing most of their loyal customers away...

...kinda like biting the hand that feeds it...

I though Sentech was part of the Government?

Seperate the Sentech broadcasting and broadband divisions. Then sell off the broadband division or enter into a partnership agreement with MWEB or IS to operate the broadband divison offering wimax as the primary wireless broadband product.

Good idea - but highly unlikely that DoC will ever let the control over Sentech go. The only sad thing is that they sit on all that spectrum - if only MWEB, IS, Altech etc can make a deal with them, similar to the Vodacom - iBurst agreement.

Why does Sentech have to sit still and wait for a handout from government to operate? Can't they build a business on their own???

Sentech said that this was not anticipated: “This announcement came as a surprise to stakeholders, in particular, customers and staff and has caused some consternation.”

Lol. Guys, everyone knew that you were in trouble...

Their next challenge will be tough, finding their way out of a wet paper bag - dare say it will be hard on their customers, all two of them - I am in a bad mood

OMG, these bunch of clowns have the habit of blaming everyone but themselves! Useless idiots.

A 10 year old could probably figure out that their pricing and the 'deals' they provide are really unrealistic. They probably think they own the market and can charge what-ever they like but they are getting big surprises. Competition is having Sentech for lunch. yum.. yum..

You a BUSINESS, you should be funding yourself without government assistance. How can iBurst survive without funding? Poor management, poor customer relations and poor employee relations have got you in this position, NOT lack of funding.

Getting the license to provide internet connectivity in addition to their TV broadcasting responsibilities was an invitation to print money in the right hands. They blew it.

I have a friend near Rosebank who still uses it cause her dad refuses to change. He's worried that one of the other providers will just be worse though I don't think thats likely. ;)
I think though that the user experience is improving as more users are leaving the network... don't think there are any congestion problems :p But they do have their fair share of downtime and there doesn't seem to be a real call desk anymore.
