question for the peeps.

Has anyone been monitoring the Sentech infranet to check their usage. In the last two days my indicated usage has jumped from 4,4G to 6,1G. I use Netmeter which two days ago indicated 4,1G and now 4,4G. During these days my PC was off-line during the nights and I downloaded the minimum. I have noticed this discrepancy between Netmeter and the infranet previously, but never to this extent.

I wonder, "Is it because I decided to stay on the classic package and not change over to the flexi-packages". (the system getting back at me.... on this Fri the 13th....)

I have e-mailed NoWire with my "problem" to see if they will do anything about it.
Any money on NO?
Any money on IGNORE THE MAIL?

Just checked the infranet thingey (17H00 on Friday) and its about right for what I did last night. I am also on classic, possibly its Friday 13th.... You would be better off not wasting time mailing nowire (who should change their name to "noreply").

Believe it not.... I also send the mail to Sentech and they replied less than an hour later. Said they will investigate the situation. Will see what happens next.

Come to think of it the network had been down in Durban for Thursday, Friday and half of today but when I checked my usage it has increased by 150 megs which is a lot if you only get 2 gigs. Interesting...

Have a look at Hellopeter and note the number of people that were billed for exceeding their caps, whilst they believed that they did not actually do so. Wonder if this is a general problem. It might turn out that these people were in fact billed incorrectly. If I were them I would insist on proof of net traffic. If I get billed for exceeding my limit I will definitely do so since it seems quite obvious that there is a problem with the infranet.

The saga continuous..
Believe it or not, NoWire actually contacted me yesterday (Mon). Unfortunately I was not available to take the call and although the gent who phoned left a msg I was not quite able to catch the whole number to be able to phone back. So I haven't spoken to anyone yet...but...at least they reacted. In an ironic twist, Sun I wasn't online except for a very short bit in the morn to check my mail and yesterday, well, yesterday Sentech was off-line until l checked late last night. So since Sat this is the first time on-line and guess what - MY USAGE IS UP, 403meg, according to the infranet. Great isn't it.?.?

And I have been online yesterday but my usage has not increased by one bit. Maybe they are allocating your bandwidth to me. If this is the case I would like to say thank you :)

I got an sms from nowire yesterday to say the network was down, the first time I have heard from them for over a year. I nearly died of shock! Today I got another sms saying the network was up, although it was up already last night when I got home. I belive that infarnet thingey refreshes at midnight, although what happens if you are on at midnight I cant say.

Did you have to sign up for SMSs especially. It would be freaking handy to get one so that I don't waste a call to the hep center...

I do not recall, pkid, its been so long since I signed up, and this was thr first time that I have had anything from nowire since they suddenly stopped sending me statements, over a year ago. I wish I could say to you phone them but I have no faith in nowire at all. When my contract expires and I do decide to go stay with mywi be rest assured I will first tell nowire where they can go.

Suppose it will only be fair to tell you guys that NoWire actually contacted me again on Tues. Edwin (i think) actually tried several times, while I was busy on the phone and then when I finished, again. Said he will request my "data-usage" stats from Sentech so that we can investigate. Will see what happens. Oh, and I also got the sms from NoWire to say the network was off, a first for me but actually appreciated. Most comms I've had with NW in ages!!

Wow... that explains the rain.... let us know what happens. Could it be that nowire has suddenly realised that their customers are getting tired of their policy of no reply.. its a bit too late.

How reliable is this thing? According to Netmeter , I've used 1.8 of the 2G I get on my package , however the Sentech Infranet report says I've only used 1G and still got another 1G left.I phoned Nowire to resolve this and the support person got the same stats.I asked him to mail me the stats and he did.In the event that I end up getting charged more , is the e-mail legally binding to them?
Or has my NetMeter got it all wrong?

Well I would think the e-mail should be legally binding.... but then again... who has the more expensive lawyers?
I personally think NetMeter is quite accurate. I have "tested" it with large downloads (200-700Meg) and every time it is within 2-5% of the actual download size. So in my books, give it appr 10% per gig. Anyway that is how I see it and use it.
Just some feedback on the saga - I am still waiting for the stats - who would believe it???

According to Sentech Infranet I've used 12410.222 MB. The only problem is that this is the same indicated usage since Saturday and I know that I've downloaded at least 3 gigs since then. So, if their usage tracker doesn't work, are they going to charge me if I go over my 20 gig allowance?

From the look of things you're on the classic package and that's the case you won't be charged

Thanks, that is the case. Checked my usage this morning and still no movement. I'm sure they can't charge me if I go over my 20 gig "soft cap" as I've never received the infamous call from NoWire stating that the soft cap no longer applies - others have.

When I spoke to Edwin from NoWire he assured me that those on classic packages will not get charged when they exceed their cap. If they do however exceed it to much they will be "warned".
Wish I had it in writing.

Fear not...:) .When I was on the 256 classic package with the softcap of 20G I used to average between 30 and 32 G a month and never did I get a warning.
