I wonder if any clever programmer can code a sentech network only p2p filesharin' system for all the users of Mycareless ?

He's the situation - I'm downloading warty-install-i386.iso at pretty much spot on 12.15 kB/s

I'm surfing at <i>exactly</i> the same speed as I would be surfing without that ftp download running.

I have a 10 to 12 kB/s chunk of local and a 3 to 5 kB/s of international seemingly independent of each other - Sentechs answer to bandwidth management.

I like it, but I'd be happier to get an overall 8 to 10 kB/s steady international and local thanks Sentech ? - my download suggests a lot of wasted bandwith which a certain CUG of old were keen to help you to fix to actually save you money ...

But, in the meantime, we've got oodles of local bandwidth, so how is it possible to use it effectively ?

The best possible way to utilise the speed we have locally is to find another provider other then Slowtech.

I was thinking sentech should give us plugins for our browsers so we can do multi-threading surfing...

So is everyone feeling the pinch on international bandwidth again...

Not just me?

your browser already does mutlithreaded downloads when surfing

it does?
I am just thinking about flash sites I sometimes visit that rely on you having a broadband connection seem to trickle in as opposed to the same files being downloaded with getright ot something similiar.

Well, I'm still sitting with a tiny little chunk of international - today is averaging 3k, tops is 4k - just about enough to surf international really slowly.

I tell you, we should make a p2p app that just sucks up all the local bandwidth downloading totally useless stuff 24/7 * 100 people.

3 days on the trot with fsck all international, Sentech, if your reading this FSCK YOU ![:D]

i doubt they're intelligent enough to realise fsck you means **** you (no comprehension on basic fundamentals you see)

vowthorn, there is a reason WHY you need a broadband connection when hitting a flash site. It's because flash can't be downloaded in the multithreaded way a website with 50 images can. Hence the need for a broadband connection. Not this overglorified 56k modem we're sitting with

Actually a flash file(.swf) can quite easily be "multithreaded" since it's sent via the HTTP protocol.

Vowthorn is right in asking for a multithreaded browser but he needed to define WHAT he meant... A typical browser(IE/Mozilla) will look at a page and open seperate connections for each object on the page - this allows multiple items to be downloaded simultaneously - hence multithreaded at the PAGE level ... BUT what is required to assist Sentech users is a browser that will not only open a thread per object but MULTIPLE threads per object - hence multithreaded at the OBJECT level.

Online training courses are often in flash format ... idiots .... but one must learn from somewhere ;-)

Yes I realise that, unfortunatly, that is not how IE/Mozilla handles any objects on a page.

Like I said in other posts, we should not be forced to use other technology, or pay for overpriced antenna's, just to get a decent connection or speed from sentech.

yeah... that pretty much covers it... right now if I watch my bandwidth throughput and while I surf wether it be flash sites or good ole html pages my connection very rarely spikes above 20% of usage.

Althought Mr Smith believes this is adequate he forgets that a while back when Sentech was kinda working webpages would load in the blink of an eye... with net usage being about 60-80%.

Fact of the matter is it seems Sentech have once again done something STUPID with their bandwdith profiler or whatever and now surfing is like walking through a swamp.

Getright and Azureus both hit 10KB comfortably and the strange thing is Soulseek which does not use multithreading hits at times 6KB so it almost leads me to believe there is enough bandwidth just hasnt been
configured correctly... and apparently this is difficult.

I was told that Sentech use a bandwdith profiler supplied by Emergent Technologies. Havent bothered looking it
up as I have no idea or interest how these things work.

What is nice is the best description I have ever heard of Sentech... An overglorified 56K modem &lt;--- now that is not an exageration but sadly enough... the black and white truth...

So what does Sentech do that is right?
They treat their clients like ****... blame them for THEIR problems
They seem to be lying about speeds and trully believe what we have (28K modem speeds) is enough
Their 2nd level support know as much about the product as I know about the Space Shuttle

They are in denial and I see new people are coming to this forum after finding out that they were
sold lies...

Online Local P2P is the best thing I have heard all week... but sstill aint helping those people
trying to stream radio and others trying to view flash sites which in a real world scenario
broadband should deliver.... and aint a far cheaper price.
