I subscribe to a 60Mbps fibre service via Afrihost. FNO is Frogfoot.
Been with Afrihost for many years without any major issues.

Recently we started experiencing bandwidth issues.
My Broadband speed tests were fine, but this is only to the nearest server (we are in Cape Town).
So I tried Ookla.
Tests to Cape Town via Ookla are also fine.
But testing to the servers in Johannesburg (including Afrihost's own server) gets less than 5Mbps download!
Same for international servers.

To exclude local issues, I bypassed the router (connected the incoming WAN cable directly to the PC LAN port).
Running tests to the same servers gave normal results (above 50Mbps download).
The logical conclusion was a router issue.
The existing router (TP-Link Archer A7 v5, flashed with OpenWRT) was oldish, so I decided to replace it.
Got a Cudy WR3000 instead. Basic router at reasonable price, with OpenWRT support.

This is where it gets strange. Exact same result with the new router!
Below 5Mbps to anywhere outside of Cape Town!
Router is on stock settings.
Bypass the router and all is normal.

Experts / @AfriNatic / @AfriGuy / @Afrigirl please assist.

Thanks for the reply @Frogfoot Fibre
PM sent.

Not sure if this is a Frogfoot or Afrihost (or router) issue, but investigating from all sides will be appreciated.

over the weekend.

did the usual - restarted ONT, router, all devices, etc.

last week we had a weird moment where our Internet dropped, and then the WiFi asked us to login - showing the Fibre Activation page
How is the connection now?

the connection itself is fine, but Facebook & Insta reels buffer, sometimes YT as well
