Can anyone tell me why my warez & kazaa downloads is extremely slow, or nit working at all, and is my downaload speeds affected by my signal strength?

Thanks

Tower 126 (priviously 82) Signal: 13-18%. Speed: 0,8Kb/s - 4Kb/s

try use Dc++ with the zanet hub. the link is somewhere on the Adsl thread , try search for it ... much better than dumbass Kazaa, Bittorrent also works alot smoother

At the moment, any file that downloads at full speed for more than around 5 to 10 seconds get throttled to <5KB/s.

I see the same throttling, but my problem is that ALL my traffic seems to get throttled. I don't mind too much that my P2P stuff gets throttled to keep the surfers happy, but I DO object to the fact that ALL my traffic get's throttled when I have a P2P application open.

To surf/email successfully I have to close eMule, surf pr0n site, open eMule. This is very annoying. Is everyone else seeing this pattern or am I just going potty?

seems nothing else has been said here in ages.

1. Can someone please tell me IF p2p / torrents are allowed on Sentech, and what this "Soft limits based on fair usage policy" is... ???

2. What is anybody's views regarding Sentech currently and would they sign a contract just to get away from Telkom???

3. With current politics with Telkom and the Draft Regulations, Who would wait to see what comes of all this before signing up with Sentech?, or is Telkom still a better (however smelly) bet???

4. Should i go with Sentech, would it be adviseable to do the 2 year contract just to get the modem, or rather buy the thing and save a R150 pm on the Mywireless Pro ? it would prob. be cheaper to pay for the modem with my Credit card, and pay them off for the thing and pay less on Sentech ?

Just exploring my options since my SAOL 10gig account is done for end of the month, and unsure if i should try out MrBeep / AYCE / (GOD FORBID) Telkom's "We cap you when we feel like it" / Sentech...

*note - i don't really bother with online gaming (not much of a gaming person)

1. Last time I *seriously* checked (Aug/Sept last year), p2p had no probs, did just under 20gb per month during the "test" period
2. Currently I will not sign contract with anyone. My contract finished last year May, month to month currently and went from 128 to 256 (classic) in July
3. I'm considering 192 ADSL (if available) , since the local latency is killing me and seriously affects my ability to work from home (after hours) Might even consider some online racing then. This will be an additional connection to Mywireless, since the 20GB soft cap is still a huge bonus

I use p2p and get around 16K - 20K/sec on the 256 package. Im also on the month to month as my contract ended last Nov.

and you guys would recommend Sentech - or would you guys or anybody else for that matter say "wait and see what happens with Telkom/ICASA" etc...?

I'll stick to sentech for now. Perhaps once the SNO is providing a service or once the draft regulations are actually enforced, I'll consider changing.
