Sentech to Launch New MyWi packages

Did they increase their rates again? or is it the same price for slower speeds?

What speed will you get on Flexi? i mean theoretically, not having concrete walls, wind, leaves or anthing else around to attenuate the signal. Will they give you the max speed possible, or will it be on a "whatever we can suppy basis" i.e. slower than dialup.
 
they have effectively raised their prices in the midst of budding competition, it must be a sign of total desperation or total stupidity..

or maybe daddy just wants to buy himself a new luxury car...

I think the lower meg packages are very useful, especially for road warriors, and support guys. Need to get e-mail and check a couple webpages. Nice.

Seems compariable to a MTN 3G or Vodacom 3G.

uhm, you forget that sentech hardly has any coverage, unlike MTN or vodacom., making it worthless for people on the move
 
This is interesting. It is still quite expensive, but it is way cheaper than V3G or MTN3G packages for anything above 1G. I wonder if Vodacom and MTN will now drop their ridiculous high prices. I think for V3G 10G will cost you R5,000 or something crazy like that.

I see that current users can change to flexi for no cost.
 
Speeds have not yet been decided, from the launch video I watched. Apparently 256k, or 128k. Winston said that most people didn't mind the speed as much, as long as it was above an acceptable level.

Does it matter to them, seeing that they are counting data transfer now? Why don't they use 512, so people can go into R1 per Mb quicker?
 
Have to say that this is a clear indication that we will NEVER have competitively priced broadband in this country. No matter how amny service providers we are allowed to have competing in the market place each and every one of them will rip us a new one on pricing.

I don't hold out much hope that even when the SNO is finally up and running, that we will ever see competitive telecommunications prices.

As the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans do.

As an aside, I am now glad that I opted to go the route of iBurst again as opposed to waiting for these @sses to launch their so called competitive product.
 
Will the old packages fall away on the 15th of August?
If not, you will have to get your head read if you opt for the flexi 3,5 or 10 GB.
It's better then to stick to standard or professional.

You are right: The new packages make no sense at all.
If I wanted mobility, MTN's EDGE has far more coverage.
If I wanted real broadband, ADSL is far more cost effective.

The old packages make more sense, but with the new cheaper
ADSL offerings available from 1 September, I think that sooner
or later, Sentech will be forced to do a serious re-think.

Yes, stand aside as people rush to trade in their current 512K, 40gig package (priced at R1349) for a flexi 10000 for R1999
 
What the hell? I hope there won't be any problems staying on existing packages! I'm perfectly happy with my MyWi 256 at R850 per month - we do 10-20GB per month.
