Hello
[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]

Well this is just lovely ! I get home and no longer have MyWireless!

It would appear that some maintenance was done on tower 12 - now my singal is no more....

Any advice ? Who can I contact - the "friendly, technically proficient" helpdesk told me to leave it till 2morrow ... lovely but when they phone me in the morning to see "if its working" I'll be at work ... AARRGGHHHH

ProASM ? My ticket number is 3147. I know it's not your area but could you just check for me that they at least have the correct details:

I connect to Tower12 - 2530000 (16%). Tower82 - 253000 (16%) is around the corner(and over the hill) from me and I cannot connect to it.

There was Tower12 maintenance today (22/04/04) and now I have NO signal.

Any ideas ?

Rig

Exactly how far away from Tower 12 are you ?
All Towers are currently being adjusted not to go further than 6 km.

Hello Pro,

I'd say I'm just under 6km from there.

I'm maybe 1.5km from 82 - but CANNOT connect to it at all.

I've tried this via cantella and patch... I'd presume that even with an external antenna Tower12/Tower82 will then not be available ?

So much from Sentech's MAP indicating "GOOD" coverage.

Guess I'll have to get a dial-up account again and put my account on hold... [V][V][V]

Tower 82 covers a multitude of sins, if you are using a cantenna could be bringing Randburg Mtro into range of your modem, but the tower cannot see your return signal. Stay tuned for the mythical tower 22 in your area..

No joy there Chuckl.. I understand 22 is quite near ... no signal at all from it though....

Just wish Sentech would release a listing of what tower covers where... ggrrrrr

Also, 82 can also be the Sentech tower at Radiokop - which is what it is in this case.

regardtv, if you are so close to 82 and cannot connect, phone and complain and insist on assistance with this regard.
I have also reported that this 82 is having connection problems as I've had several reports about it but I get told "there is nothing wrong with it".

Coverage ....

ProASM - do you guys get a coverage map... ie one that would show tower footprints ?

Is there any chance I could get a footprint indication for the area I live in ? Obviously footprinting is used on the ZoneLocator .. but I'd like to see which tower is supposed to "OFFICIALLY" cover me ...

These are very necessary adjustments as with several towers the signals go way beyond the 6 km range and people at 10, 15 and 20ks are getting better signals than what they get from their local tower and then cannot connect.
This is something that was not forseen until I picked up the problem here in Durban.
Durban was total chaos with regard to people not connecting until we went out and adjusted all the towers for a max range of between 3 and 6 km.

*** Edit***
Currently we do not have "footprint" maps but I hear Fastcomm/NoWire might be delevoping some.
The Zonelocator uses GPS as each NodeB one every Tower has its own GPS system.

Did the zonelocator indicate signal at your place regardtv? Was it "good".

Sentech must make a plan. They're killing off already paying customers to satisfy new customers. You can't go and break something that was working before...

I've just about given up with the call centre...

Anyone I can escalate to that actually knows what is going on in JHB ?

Pro - you have a name for me ?

R

Can anyone give me the lat/long of Tower82,Tower12 and Tower22 in JHB ?

From my estimate of 82-Radiokop I'm 1.93 km from it...

Need to check on 12 and 22....

It certainly did [8D]

The biggest problem with them making a plan is that no-one with any technical skill is available to be spoken to at the call centre...

I think I'm going to stage a sit-in at they Fourways offices ;-)

Calm down rtv, Sentech have no previous experience with us common or garden things called customers. I have been waiting 9 months 4 an ISdn line.... In an area where ISDn (final diminutive is intentionial after 9mths) is 'immediatlely available'. 1.5 months ago I was promised that 'installation will be within 48hrs'. NO!!! not yet.
So i welcome Sentech with an alternative. If you want to know where the towers are, see my previous posts. NB!!! some towers are 'mythical' they do not talk to the gods, but they exist.

Dude, talk to clinton smith [email protected]

You can also call head office (fourways) not sure about the number. bitch with him, he at least knows what the hell he's doing

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

I got home, and signal was gone. Got back one dot a while later (normally have 3), and was able to connect, but only just. Still only on 8% signal from tower 82.

Who mucked with the tower?

Claymore,

Report the problem and insist on getting a ticket opened concerning tower 12. This is the only way we are going to get things fixed.

I take it you are in Randparkridge area as well. Can you also NOT connect to tower 82 ?

R

regardtv, I'll mail you.
There just is no choice about this at all.
Phase II has approx 30 new Towers for Gauteng alone and these cannot go in until the current grids are sorted out.
The customers that are being "killed" should not have been connected to the Towers they were connected to in the 1st place and like in regardtv's case he will get connected to 82 or where ever his nearest Tower is and he will be assisted in whatever way possible until this happens.
Please just work with us and everyone will be much better off at the end of the day.

I think its pretty clear that most ppl on the forum are quite happy to work with Sentech to get their service sorted. The problem is WHO we have to work with - ie. the call centre.
Is there not any direct line to the techies that could be offered?

Methinks we should create a sticky post of contact numbers/names/location/role of tech ppl - like the dude that noone suggested. That way its not like your average man-in-the-street will be calling these dudes, but it will be ppl on this forum that hopefulyl have enough common sense not to phone techies about account queries [:D]
