And SA has the lowest speed on their site. Sniff.

Distance between Perth (AUS) and London = 14472 KM
Distance between Cape Town (ZAR) and London = 9880 KM

Australia has faster and cheaper access!

Distance between Perth (AUS) and New York (USA) = 18686 KM
Distance between Cape Town (ZAR) and New York (USA) = 12677 KM

Australia has faster and cheaper access!

And this is as the crow flies!
Telkom's theory that our prices are higher because we are farther away from the Northern hemisphere doesn't hold water!

They can go and stuff themselves!

RPM, when do you want the tests in by, I don't wanna miss the hand in? I've been doing 20 tests a day for the last few days, and all seems to be going well ;-) Got lots of nice data.

Cheers, Nick

Hi Nickste

Please send the URL and some data now. I have to process all of it so the sooner the better! I must have the basic results ready by next week so hard work for me here :D

Regards,

RPM

hehe - glad u can take a joke. :D

I applied yesterdy for an upgrade to 1024k - still no joy, but have you noticed that my *fabulous* 512k line has not exceeded 363k (down) since starting this test?

http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpee...ountryId=196&ConnectionId=14890&UserId=172324

I was on the phone with a friend in France last night - he has a 20mb - yes, that's 'm', not 'k' - ADSL line with NO cap and it costs him 35 euros a month. Oh, and that includes FREE local telephone calls.

Die Telskum, die.

hmmm... is Telkom shaping on port 8080? I'm asking because the applet for the ADSLGuide Speed Test is connecting to 80.249.99.125:8080, and my results either time out or are pathetic - which lends me towards the idea that 8080 is being shaped (or at least not included in port prioritization). This will kind of negate these (ADSLGuide only) test results. Anyone else experiencing this (and you're not going through a proxy/socks server)?

I'm getting the exact same.. Thought it might be my PC, but tried it using a VPN last night again... Went straight through!

Its strange my download speeds for this test is all over the place, but the stranger thing is my upload was at first stuck at a 700k limit and now dropped to 490k, its a straigt line on my graph, still way more than the 128k i should get. Strange...

Results?

Any idea when we can see preliminary findings or have I missed something?
