Received this this morning

We have continued with our accelerated roll-out of coverage, and we're pleased to announce the following additional coverage since August:

* Johannesburg
o Norwood
o Northriding
o Kya Sands
o Woodmead
o Fourways
o Wilro Park
o Vereeniging
o Vanderbijlpark

* Pretoria
o Garsfontein

* Cape Town
o CBD

Please note that people in Roodekrans and in North Riding can now expect "basestation hopping" because of their stupidly placed "extra" towers

In line with our ongoing efforts to provide you with excellent service, we will be posting invoices on the 3rd of every month (rather than the 15th), starting on 3 October 2006. Note that debit orders will be processed on the 25th of the month, as of 25 October 2006.

In line with our ongoing efforts to piss our customers off and provide you with crap service we will now attempt to post invoices whenever we feel like it (rather than once a year) starting when we feel like it, sometime in the next 12 months. Note that debit orders will now be processed on the 25th of the month and tuffies for you if you get paid late.

Anyone know how to get rid of "basestation hopping" - i.e. to force a connection to a specific tower?

PM me for more info to solve with standard iBurst patch antenna

Well I believe this is the point of the new towers, ans its exactly what everyone has been asking for, they ut up towers in places closer to existing towers to get rid of some of the over crowding on those towers.
Im not talking about the hopping of course.. this is a nasty side effect, they should do something with the firmware to get rid of that..

Where is this tower in Fourways?I have been waiting patiently for the tower on The Design Centre but no news yet.No updates on Ibursts website about it going live and no real increase in speeds.In fact I had a degregation of speed last week.I have leased out my Iburst connection and am now on my DSL connection routered to my daughter.Connection far more stable.But like you I hate giving Telkom money.And eish it is not cheap.

Your DSL connection will always be stable, as it is a fixed line. That's the problem with wireless ISP's. You have to be 1m away from the tower to get a constant, 100% signal! As for giving Telkom money... I closed my phone account with them so I don't even give them money for THAT lol!

I sent them an email to complain, and they replied that my debit order date would not be changed. So if you are unhappy, the answer is to email them and bitch.

If the company released a news statement about the debit order being changed, it must be true. The consultant you e-mailed was probably clueless about it (like most of them are) and he/she gave you false info.

This is what I sent them in response and the reply from a lady called Mary ann Jansen:

We'll keep your d/order date for the 1st

Mary Ann

Importance: High
Please be advised that I do NOT want to be debited on the 25th of the month, but to continue to be debited on the 1st of the month as initially stipulated when we signed up.

If this is not possible, then I request that you cancel my debit order immediately and I will do a manual payment on the 1st of every month.

If I get debited on the 25th and the amount is returned due to lack of funds I will hold you liable for the penalty fee on my account as I expect you to honour my above request and confirm that the changes have been made.

In respects of the tower in Northriding/Kya Sands I have yet to get confirmation as to where it is situated. Below is mail I sent to them with response:

Good Day Craig

Thank you for contacting our Iburst helpdesk. My name is Lebohang and I will be handling your request.

With regards to your request of bad signal strength, please find the information requested below.

The nearest base station to Kya sand is the North Riding base station.

Please advise where tower for Kya Sands is situated.

My antenna is currently trained on Olivedale Tower and my signal is still rubbish. I have tried moving it to find the Kya Sands tower to no avail.

Please advise accordingly.

Moi

The basic idea is to maximize one tower's signal only (or weaken others, but this is not practical), so yes, a very directional antenna will do the trick.

Erm, can't access the site as it asks for a username and password.:(

Edit to Add: Ok, it now seems to go in, but none of the links work (more specifically the link to coverage and base station proximity)

There is a thread about this.. oh yes.. you started it. You should now that it is still in progress right? Those links obviously havent been completed or put online yet.

Erm, yes, I did start a thread on it after no-one posted here in regards to the "problem".
