Modern problems require modern solutions
The last time I went to MOA it was packed, Could barely walk and it was a sunday, Felt like i was in JOburg CBD and the demographic there wasn't my scene at all, jut felt dodgy. I didnt even last 10 minutes. Doubt I will go back.MOA at least has flow, but the Checkers and surrounding sections are like going into Marabastad - you need to have your spidey senses activated otherwise you will lose a hand-bag or even a child (true story for us on both these counts).
Malls are just yucky in general
Used to go to Fourways a lot in the 90s and early 2000s, though mostly the 90s cause I went to school down the road from there.20+ years ago visiting Fourways mall as a kid from PMB was amazing.
Yap, I prefer shopping centres, they are more calm, the only reason I will visit a mall is to buy clothes, and thats not to often either way.Crime hotspots lately. See too many people just hanging around malls lately not buying anything just watching everyone.
I mean I am pretty sure they blamed Takealot back in the day.How long before the mall blames Shein/Temu?
Well they all helped enforce the "It's only 2 weeks to flatten the curve" nonsense and people found other ways to shop from home. Who the fsck wants to walk from one end of a giant mall to the other and then stand in queues to pay?I mean I am pretty sure they blamed Takealot back in the day.
No thanks drive ins sucked :-( well unless your car sound was decentWell they all helped enforce the "It's only 2 weeks to flatten the curve" nonsense and people found other ways to shop from home. Who the fsck wants to walk from one end of a giant mall to the other and then stand in queues to pay?
Those who spotted the "new normal", like MrD/Takealot/Sixty60 and now Shein/Temu, and quickly moved to capitalise on the trend, are coining it today. It's better; people are not going to want to go back to traditional ways of shopping.
Bulldoze the malls; bring back drive-in theatres and roadhouses. Heck, combine the 2!
If you have a radio which can tune into DAB broadcasts, that might be an option to use at drive-ins. A DAB signal can be encrypted as well.No thanks drive ins sucked :-( well unless your car sound was decent
It's the only exercise some people getWho the fsck wants to walk from one end of a giant mall to the other and then stand in queues to pay?
@RunningFromFat is this true? It's the only exercise some people get![]()
I only shop at shopping centres, malls don't exist where I live.@RunningFromFat is this true?
They should go walk in parks or botanical gardens. Touch grass. It's the only exercise some people get![]()
Not in Jo'burg though. Used to go to The Wilds years back, now you only go there to get raped. They should go walk in parks or botanical gardens. Touch grass.
They can order your groceries/clothes/etc whilst they take in nature.
The Wilds was pretty nice when we went there earlier this year. Not in Jo'burg though. Used to go to The Wilds years back, now you only go there to get raped.
