Serious WhatsApp security flaw discovered

A cybersecurity firm says it has identified flaws in the popular messaging app WhatsApp that could allow hackers to manipulate messages in both public and private conversations, raising the prospect of misinformation being spread by what appears to be trusted sources.

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., an Israeli company that provides security for computer networks, said its researchers found three potential ways to alter conversations.

your "friends" "mom" needs to stop visiting porn sites from "her" phone, those sites infect your phone with all sorts of spyware/malware and crap that can send whatsapp msgs etc And that goes for Telegram as well, so now what?

So that's what WhatsApp adverts will look like and they will be sent to all your WA contacts.

Maybe it will work like this: whenever Zuckerberg visits a website, that website is advertised in a WhatsApp message sent to all WA users and all their contacts (for good measure and maximum exposure, in this case to pr0nhub).
