Seriously done with the utterly expensive DStv

Stream sport, download the rest.

Dstv has 10 bajillion adds and most of their programs suck balls. The sport is the only thing that might have hooked me but I could rather go watch every Rugby / cricket game in the pub and spend that R700 a lot better :p

Good news. Thus even more reason not to cough up R's/m for DSTV premium unless you really require HD. Then I will just enable DSTV for the duration of the Olympics.

Article is from 2007. Hopefully it is still relevant.

Oh No! I did not even realize, I hope so too. Maybe they (the ANC Illuminati) sold the rights to DSTV . :o

Downloading everything I want to watch wouldn't work for me, I don't have time to research interesting things to watch... I want to put on the tv, channel hop, find something interesting to watch and watch it.

Then Download everything and "preview" everything's first episode....

Channel hopping takes longer than a simple category search or a quick glance at an IMdB list IMO. I normally go through the Top 10 shows in a category and just start downloading.

That's just not possible seeing there is nothing interesting.

Talking about random things, usually on natgeo or animal planet... been getting into cooking programs too, masterchef proffessionals had me hooked, without DSTV I would never have thought about downloading and watching that.

Which is fine if you only ever want to watch movies or series... which i download btw... strict viewing times don't work for me.

I got How to cook like Heston and enjoying that, no idea if that is on Dstv.

Not just movies and tv shows. The same applies for documentaries and even lifestyle shows, if that's your cup of tea.

I wish all the DSTV Sports Fans would make a Facebook group and get together and plan to just cancel their subscriptions for three months.
Then you would see DSTV quickly come back with a better pricing option.

But as long as you all pay like good little sheep, DSTV will continue raising the prices year upon year.
We need some consumers with a little bit of backbone in SA! :D

Well according to multichoice "because its not sustainable." - Joe Public has BEEN asking this.

I canceled already. My girl is up to date with the Kardasians over the net. My wife watch her soapy on SABC one. Sport I get over the net streaming or just visit friends or bar when the important attractions hit.

So no more wasting of hard earned cash. Now only Telkom and Eskom to go.

Telkom :p easy.
Eskom:confused: GET THE CANDLES OUT

Another nice feature would have been to only select the HD channels, or DSTv Select 1 and the HD channels, but DStv will rattle at the though of not charging a full premium package.

Actually you are wrong.

Pretty much every network that broadcasts HD broadcasts in 720p... but if memory serves me correctly DSTV broadcasts in 1080i nowadays.

Actually you are wrong :D Your memory does not serve you 'correctly'. DSTV does NOT broadcast in 1080i nowadays. Sorry for the bad news.
