Selective Chrome update

Hi Guys,

I have two W8pro machines at home both running the Chrome browser. Both are showing as being up to date and on build "29.0.1547.66 m" but the browsers are completely different. One has updated to a pretty cool new interface where the New Tab page is pretty much the Google home page when you're logged in.

Is this new version being rolled out selectively and to those who have it, what do you think? I actually like the change:)

Well, right off the bat I can see the two are not on the same page. The old one is on 'Apps', and the new seems to be on 'Most Visited'.

Perhaps that's the reason?

There are quite a few differences. Here are a few I've picked up so far:
  • The new Chrome doesn't have an New Tab page for apps, it has a button to the left of the links bar
  • The new Chrome home page has a Google search bar in the middle of it (like the google home page)
  • The new Chrome includes the latest Google doodle on the New Tab page

So I did a little search on Google and it seems that Google are testing out the new interface

Seems I made it into the "small number of users" category!

PS; apologies for the bad spelling in the title:sick:

I fcking hate the new page, it is horrendously slow.

You can turn it on or off by changing the value of Enable Instant Extended API under chrome://flags

This new page ****ing sucks. I want my old page back, Chrome. If I wanted a browser that looked like Firefox I would have used Firefox.

And now this has been disabled, meaning I'm stuck with the horrible new tab page.

Does anyone know if there's another way to revert it to the old layout, otherwise I'm just going to switch back to Firefox. Chrome has been slipping for a while now and I'm tired of being forced into using stuff I hate without the option of disabling it.

Try using one of these.
