Server 2008 CAL Licences

Good Day,

I need to get about 20 Server 2008 CAL's but i can only find CALs for Server 2012, but someone told me that I can use 2012 CALs on 2008 servers. Is that true?

Bit more info maybe, ie are you talking about RDS CAL's, or just CAL's cause clients are accessing a shared folder or printer on a 2008 server?

Yes you should be able to downgrade CAL's, although for pure server access you just need to have the documentation.

For that 2012 CAL's will be fine as far as I am aware, but you can always double check with the place you are going to buy it from
