Server 2012 R2 Backups

Hey Guys,

My server has just stopped doing backups, using Windows Backup. This server backups to an external drive, of which there are 4 and gets swapped each Friday. It was running great until recently. I can't recall of anything that might have changed on the date the backups has stopped working and Google, for once, was useless.

If I run a manual backup, it completes successfully.
The scheduler does show it will run on the next scheduled date.
No errors in the event viewer.
Have deleted and recreated the schedule.
Have tried another drive.
Have cleaned the drive and added it to the schedule again.
Restart of the server also didn't help.

I don't know what else to do. There are no errors to work with at all. The server was installed in beginning Feb 2014.

Can you think of anything else I can try?

Don't know why but my server also started having problems doing backups. The server crashed one day the drives had stopped working eventually. Once everything was reinstalled on brand new harddrives the backups were working again. Maybe check the health of your harddrives?

Does the backup console provide any info related to the failed backup jobs?

CZC, this is a brand new server.

grim, there is nothing. No failed jobs and no successful jobs.

Anyway, got it sorted. When to the Task Scheduler and changed the job to run with an admin user account instead of the SYSTEM user account. Seems to have sorted the problem, but will just monitor anyway.

Just ensure that the admin account is one that never requires to change passwords.
