Hi Guys,

We have a dl360 G5, the server went for a swim when a Geyser in the office above burst.

We are planning to purchase a dl360 G6 but i would like to know the following.

The SAS drives are still working, can I put the three drive in the new server and recover the raid set, is that possible? and does anyone know the process.\

Thanks guys

The RAID information is stored in a ROM chip on the RAID controller, and a Duplicate is stored on each HDD. When you put the old disks in the new server, assuming they still work, the RAID BIOS will notify you that the configuration is different between the RAID controller and the disks, and let you specify which configuration you want to finalise. Copy the config from the disks to the RAID controller and you should be fine.

raid1

If it is raid 1 (mirror) then you usually can put the drive on a controller and it "should" read it. It will give a warning of a broken/degraded raid, but shouldn't be a issue.
