Service plan on a GTi

A sunroof in my opinion is the dumbest thing in existence on a South African car. The buyer thought "I know, let me cut a hole in my roof, destroy the structural integrity and fry my head for the next 5 years" That said, I know they are very popular and most people will buy a car with a sunroof before one without. It just makes no sense in a sun rich, hot country.

Sunroofs make perfect sense. Stops you from having to open your window, and be pestered by hawkers / potential bag snatchers, and allows some fresh air.

Factory fitted sunroofs don't affect the structural integrity of the vehicle at all, as the roof is structurally strengthened for the sunroof.

Yeah, but it looks cool if you have sunroof.

Thanks for all the info - I've changed my mind after visiting the dealership

They having an annual price increase in Oct - so ordered a Bmw instead

With sunroof,Xenons,M Sport kit, Auto for about 15K less and this comes standard with a 5 year maintenance plan

Yeah, I always feel sorry for people who buy Audi's and BMW's with halogen headlamps. Nobody wants them second hand. They want the "LEDs" or the "Halo's".

The mind boggles.
Am I reading right?
Not sure if you trolling or just ignorant...

Not a bad choice.
Good luck paying for those tyres though :D

Nice extras! Which BMW did you order?

+1
My last 3 cars all had sunroofs
will never own a car without one again

parking in the sun? pop the roof in tilt to let the hot air escape while you gone
Most of have a shade cover that will block out the light as well, so your sunburn argument is invalid

Glass stops all uv anyway.

I wasn't trolling, I just don't like sunroofs. Can't see the point. I have an air-conditioned, pollution free, sealed cabin.

The worst are those huge panoramic ones that look like stacked patio furniture, like on Polo's and A1's.

My problem with sunroofs is the fact that they open...leading me to believe the car doesn't seal as well as it could.

A panoramic that just lets light in is awesome.

Do you have the same problem with windows?

Do you have the same problem with windows?

No.

The problem is every single car I've been in that has a sunroof has more wind noise from the doors (possibly windows) than the same car without a sunroof.

And I'm talking VW, Lexus, Mercedes here not the cheap and nasty aftermarket stuff.
