  • Connect the device with USB cable or establish WiFi connection
  • Point your web browser at http://192.168.0.1/
  • The default setup password is 'admin'. If you've forgotten the password, remove the back cover of the router and press and hold the Reset button until the device resets.
  • Once you have logged in, click on Mobile Broadband in the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
  • Change Connection Settings to Manual, change the APN as required, e.g. Afrihost. In most cases the phone number can remain *99#. DNS, DNS2, User Name, Password and Confirm Password can remain blank. Security can remain None.
  • Click OK

I found the web interface a bit flaky with firmware 3.2, but after upgrading to 4.9 it was more stable.
I was unable to find the update on Vodacom's site, but found it on business.vodafone.com, but then the capcha didn't work. The file I eventually downloaded was named R201V4.9_10.0.302.2.24346_4.01.11.00.zip.
The updater tool provides the following benefits:
  1. It will enable the latest software functionality on your device which will increase stability and reliability
  2. 2. It will allow you to benefit from improved file sharing features which include:
    • SAMBA that allows you to map a network drive to the contents of the micro SD card for the ability to manage your files and folders via your PC/Mac’s standard drag and drop user interface
    • DLNA from Twonky Media allows your R201 to become a media server to share the contents of a MicroSDHC card with other consumer electronic DLNA-enabled devices, eg TV’s, Hi-Fi’s, tablets, handsets etc.
