XMBC Machine installed from the XMBC Live CD

I have it installed on an intel mobo that has 3 analogue out sockets. When i run win7 on this mobo i can configure each of the analoge sockets to a set of speakers ( in a 5.1 setup ) using the mobo software ( ie its not a win7 feature )

I dont want to run windows on this machine, but i cannot figure out how to configure the sound on under ubuntu so that it it sees the sound ports as anything other than speaker/line/mic

Ideas ppls ?

if your ports are not visible in alsamixer. checkout asoundrc, all is possible but a mission though. i havent used it since the old alsa days with beta drivers. http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/.asoundrc

you might have to do some "jack" magic.

goodluck.

lspci and search the net for you specific audio device to see if it is possible.

Give us the output here as well, I have some international bw to waste so I'll help in the search.
