I am trying to set up a pcanyware connection
but i need to find th TCP and UDP ports to make a analog to DSL connection work so any help would be great
or any tips on setting up a analog to DSL all I seem to get is (time out looking for conncetion)

I guess Telkom has ruled that PC Anywhere is an abusive system and set the priority for the appropriate port quite low.

Confirm with the helpdesk if this is the case.

BTW, ever tried TightVNC? It is freeware from www.tightvnc.com.

I'm running it on my LAN and works excellent. Never tried it over the Internet yet. It might be slow and insecure...

Nope, it works fine through the internet (dial-up connection), just use the 8 bit setting and it's very usable. We use it on a weekly basis. We secure the connection using SSH I think.

I spoke to telkom yesterday they said because of limited bandwidth they have blocked pcanyware on adsl
but if there is a way to get around it please let me know

LOL is there anything that is not blocked on ADSL?

I think that before you sign up there should be a list of the things you can do and the things you can not do so you know what you're getting into. The can not's certainly outweigh the can's.

Very sad indeed.

Hi,

Port 22 (SSH) seems to be open - but I've not confirmed with Telkom.

Possibly you could create a tunnel via SSH to the other end.

To be honest, I've never tried something like that yet.

Any voluteers for a tutorial on the forum?[:)]

Thank you once agian Telcum for helping someone into the pit of rubbish which you call your world. Thank you for not allowing a client or perhaps you call them 'sheep' for short to not choose which programs he or she is allowed to run, i mean who needs to use a program like PCAnywhere it's only used by millions and millions of users world wide. And the fact that you paid for the damn bandwidth what damn diffrence does it make what you use it for i mean after the cap you wont even be able to get onto the damn telkom website to try and complain to them about it. So Telcrumb get a clue, get educated and realise we are not going anywhere. We have backed off for much to long, the time is near where we shall rise and time them down. Fight as one and win as many. Die Telkom Die [8]

Fantasy is what people want, reality is what they need.

I'd love to try TightVNC, but I can't even access the webpage because im Capped - LOL

This just sux
