Hi,

I just got an iMate JASJAR via MTN but want to use it on my Vodacom contract. How do I set it up to use GPRS/3G via Vodacom?

I called 111 and they told me that they do not have the settings and that I should take my phone to a Vodacare shop so that they can set it up there.

When the JasJar initialized, it loaded up settings for MTN. I assume there must be some kind of file to do the same for Vodacom.

I got as far as adding a new connection and a new modem, but then i have to add some settings, like an internet connection point, and a username and password etc. What should I put in there?

Thanks in advance for any help. Much appreciated.

Daniel

It shouldn't be necessary to load any settings. I use my 6680 and 6310i on all 3 networks and I never change any settings.

Thanks for the replies. Very much appreciated.

I tried doing what ajax said, and it worked. I used the mtn settings with my vodacom sim and managed to browse the web. not sure if it was 3G though ...

when i added my own connection with "internet" as the APN, it wouldn't connect.

I'm still on Family Top Up and contemplating switching to a "full" contract in order to get a data bundel add on since i cannot do it with the top up ... but before i do, i'd like to make sure everything is cool (even though i'm paying R2/meg)

are there other settings? ip? proxy? usernames? must i have a databundel first?

also, kinda OT: what are the settings for MMS?

Go to http://www.leaf.co.za/ , select the FAQ and Download image. In the popup scroll down to Downloads and select it. Then select "i-mate JASJAR Network Settings" , pick the cab file you require, download it, and run it on your JasJar , easy ! :D

Thanks for the links.

I found the cab files and downloaded them, but when I installed them, i got a message saying "installation was unsuccessful". tried a few times with no luck. even tried the other cab files, for MTN, Cell C. no luck.

then it hit me ... what do i do when my pc acts like this? restart! So i restarted the device, and tried again. and behold, it worked. seems like the memory or something is very sensitive ...

i also found a link on club imate:
https://www.clubimate.com/t-JASJARSETTINGS.aspx

thanks again for everyone's help. much appreciated. now i can join the 3G world with vodacom!
