R1,000 for ultimate South African streaming bundle including sport and Netflix

South African households can get seven video streaming services providing millions of hours of content — including live sports — for around R1,000 per month.

MyBroadband looked at the wide range of video subscriptions available in South Africa to see how many of them we could fit into a combo on a reasonable monthly in-home entertainment budget.

I got 6 at about R960. Maybe cheaper DSTV package and add Showmax gets you to 7 under R1k.

Is endlessly annoying that DSTV costs as much as all the other services combined, and their app is the worst. All for football only.

70% of that total is for one service, you can guess which one it is. To put it in perspective I pay around R400 for my Hulu/Disney/ESPN bundle.

Netflix - R99 to R199 (depending on what you want) - R159 gives you two streams and HD
Disney - R159

Crunchyroll - R39 (very dependent I guess)
Apple TV - R99

But even at the cheapest it doesn't come to R1000 it comes to R1333? Minus the Crunchy Roll, guess if you remove YouTube and Apple TV you'd be close

Thats my 6 (costs from memory) and it totals R1023. Not sure how you get 7 including sport (which makes DSTV mandatory in the analysis) for under R1k

These services are legally streaming in South Africa without VPN, CuriosityStream is niche like the BBC only a portion of households would even watch such content.

Not going to get into the legal streaming debate. Geolocking content based on where you live is retarded IMO. It's the same debate we had before we got Netflix. You're paying a legal provider (not a pirate provider), you get a service, it's that simple...
