Seventh heaven?

Windows 7 will also be streamlined in terms of bundled software, so when you install the operating system some Windows Live tools - such as Windows Mail and Windows Live Messenger - will not be automatically installed

Awesome, sick and tired of having live installed.

even if all it did was the same stuff as vista but it did it in half the time with half the resources i would be happy. i cant stand waiting for a folder to open...wtf?

if windows7 will be better than vista then the only way windows8 is gonna be better than 7 is if it's built on a linux kernel

However, Erasmus says Microsoft has considered South African users with limited and expensive Internet connectivity. "We'll post disks with the free software to anyone who wants them without any cost to the user...

But we can use local BW to download this?!?!

Edit:

This will solve the argument between windows and linux forever. :D

Did you read the article ? The reason Vista is so unpopular is because of compatibility issues.

If Windows 8 runs on linux it will [-]be more secure[/-] not be compatible with anything so it will fail more than Vista.

I don't buy this. I believe it's MS-speak for saying "the kernel is broken but we can't admit it, so we partly make it someone else's problem".

I've been running both 32-bit and 64-bit Vista for a long time and have never seen compatibility problems (with the exception of one or two apps that were written in the 90's).

Rather, Vista has serious performance issues and these seem to have been addressed in 7. At least from what I can see on my installations.

You've been lucky, a lot of people were caught after upgrading to Vista; either their hardware stopped working (no Vista drivers), or their software stopped working (particularly video intensive stuff, apparently due to the added DRM layer - Adobe Premiere Pro and Merge Healthcare medical imaging are two off the top of my head).

Windows 7 addresses neither of these problems.

I did upgrade my old XP machine to Vista and it did upgrade without any issues. But I promptly bough new hardware (twice) because Vista was so slow, so I am running on hardware that about 12 months old.

So you could be right.

True, My computer seems to run fine with the sp1 upgrade, exception to the old age software and games the os runs well. The system also doesn't crash like xp did (even with sp3) i had countless problems with the explorer restarting because of a certain Video editing program(which in vista works well enough), even with programing.

I think they designed vista to run on over-clocked pc's and forgot that the average joe out there doesn't have the spec's...and some bugs in the side line

Vista works for me...for now

lol. Perhaps the best way to go is: Try before you buy.
Just curious how much Win7 will cost if Vista Pro was already almost an arm and a leg..

Windoze7 looks and sound promising only time will tell if it's hype or real

I'm waiting for Win7 to see (dont count your chickens before they hatch).... I'm still very suspect with Vista. XP is solid and no one out there can deny that.
