Another severe cold front is set to hit the Western Cape from tomorrow, with the South African Weather Service warning of heavy rains. Snowfall is also being predicted.

The Western Cape Department of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning has urged the public to be vigilant.

Spokesperson James-Brent Styan said, “To motorists and whenever people are outside from Thursday to over the weekend, please take care and drive safely. If you see flooded areas don’t cross over and be careful.”

Meanwhile, weather forecasters say the Eastern Cape will also be heavily affected by the cold front.

There's a possibility of snowfall in both provinces and a warning of possible heavy rains.

Temperatures are expected to drop in the Eastern Cape from tomorrow night and in the interior of the country over the weekend.

Forecaster Vanetia Phakula says, “As the cold front moves to the south east it will spread to most of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. There is a possibility of snowfall, but very light on Friday over the high-lying areas in both provinces.”

Its going to be quite a widespread event, with the Southern Drakensberg affected by Sat 30th. Snow is now a definite scenario, though the coverage and thickness are still unclear at this stage (2-3 days ahead).

After last Friday's little,....Welcome to real Cape Winter, I am back bitches...- and all the flooding that was reported. When last have the street drains be cleared, of all the crap it accumulates?? I have seen more than some, solidly sealed by just sand or leaf matter.

I was shooting a PSL match in Kwazakhele yesterday afternoon and the wind was brutal. Think I'm going to stock up on firewood and stay in until it passes. :o

It will make the morning run even worse...if I can get out of bed.

I also made fire in the combustion fireplace, just because I could. Was nice and toasty. Walking around only in shorts.

Its still difficult to predict the exact snow coverage (48 hours in advance), but this is the likely coverage between Fri 29th and Sat 30th:

Forgot to add a few bottles of red wine to the shopping list - don't make the same mistake!

A fire is always nice when there's a chill in the air :)

Isn't that normal for PE? :D
This was particularly brutal. If I'd had my other MyBB jacket with me I'd have worn it as well!

Besides, we're the bottle nose dolphin city now - or something like that - so wind shouldn't be an issue any more… someone obviously didn't get THAT memo!
