The Western Cape Department of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning has urged the public to be vigilant.
Spokesperson James-Brent Styan said, “To motorists and whenever people are outside from Thursday to over the weekend, please take care and drive safely. If you see flooded areas don’t cross over and be careful.”
Meanwhile, weather forecasters say the Eastern Cape will also be heavily affected by the cold front.
There's a possibility of snowfall in both provinces and a warning of possible heavy rains.
Temperatures are expected to drop in the Eastern Cape from tomorrow night and in the interior of the country over the weekend.
Forecaster Vanetia Phakula says, “As the cold front moves to the south east it will spread to most of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. There is a possibility of snowfall, but very light on Friday over the high-lying areas in both provinces.”
