Residents in Gauteng and Mpumalanga were urged to prepare for massive thunderstorms and possible hail over the weekend, the Tshwane emergency services said on Friday.

The national weather services sent a warning that they expect huge thunderstorms from Friday night onwards, with possible hail and strong winds," spokesman Johan Pieterse said.

"This will continue on the weekend as well."

Pieterse said people should make plans to ensure their children were safe and that they stayed away from low-lying bridges.

Dont forget to unplug your ADSL modems and delicate electronics, people.

The one thing I miss about jozi is the thunderstorms. A bit strange, but I miss all the drama of those highveld storms. Just pisses rain every now and then in CT.

I can see it out my window... Its coming... Maybe not now, but definitely later...

I would not mind some nice thunder storms (minus the hail) .... but it is nice and cool and over cast now. Such a welcome break from the heat we had here in Jozi over xmas. My god, I think I have lost 5kg's in sweat alone :D
The heat was killer. So bad that 2 x 12000 BTU aircons couldn't handle it.

The double decker portion of the M1 highway on the Western side of the Joburg CBD after one of the cloud bursts this week.

The M1 double decker canal. Saw that on PigSpotter. Need amphibious vehicles in Joeys now.

Apparently jra cleared the drains today. Maybe that story about the two 10 year old doing it in the ec that my ward councillor sent them embarrassed them into action.

I wish PE saw a thunderstorm once in a while. We never have exciting weather.
