shady business practice?

Never again. They never delivered my mom's flowers and stopped responding to my complaint.

sent my wife expensive red roses when we got engaged - they delivered roses covered in mold. I complained - they then said they'll just deliver new flowers the next day, told them not to bother, already spoilt the moment - but they did it anyway.

On another occasion - paid for flowers in a porcelain flower vase for my grandmother - they delivered the flowers in one of those cheap little metal buckets you buy at the R5 store. Didn't respond to complaint.

Never again.

Not even Takealot does that.

Oh really?

In December just before Christmas I bought my wife an iPhone 8 64GB just in time as the warning was that there were only 2 left in stock.

Literally five minutes later after completing the order I went back to the link for some reason and the price was increased by a R1000.

This wasn't a daily deal or discounted in any way at the time of purchase.

wonder if one of the reps/CTO's of one of the big retailers can enlighten all of us here,

do they practice adaptive pricing? IE price is different depending on a million things?

as I think we just opened a giant can of worms with online retailers in general.

Interesting thread.

I here what you're saying and agree that the ethics involved is questionable.

But this practice is not limited to online retailers. Mechanics giving different prices on the same work, depending on the appearance of the person asking for the work to be done - not to mention gender.

The corner shop in Margate charging 50% extra during December.

The local drinking hole charging regulars less than out-of-towners.

At the end of the day, something is worth as much as you are willing to pay for it.

Seems they lost a customer for life. So they loose.

I won't use them again. I ordered a mothers day plant , got a sad wilted looking thing, with holes in the leaves. It died in a couple of days. They sent me a new one which looked a lot better, but that one also died, quickly, completely rotten roots.

Whats the point of ordering a gift, when it looks pathetic when it arrives? I think the cheap couriers, ( a guy in a old beat up car) they used on Mothers day contributed to the sad state of the plants

A while ago I actually suspected something like this with Takealot, but kind of forgot about it since I anyway hardly use them anymore.

I once sent my wife 12 red roses through them. She got 13 that were slowly defrosting...
Never again.

Can't reproduce this. I order from them on a regular basis. Clients gifts.

Get the same pricing across different browsers, incognito mode etc. Even used a VPS in Europe.

@OP Do you still get the different pricing now? Perhaps they adjusted the pricing as you were browsing the site?

Yeah it is very strange, it might be because I have bought with my UK bank account there before, perhaps that changes the cookie? Pushing international customers' prices up.

Regardless there is something that is manipulating the prices behind the scenes cause there is no way that price is coming from a table without being modified, I have never looked at beer pricing on their site until a few minutes ago.

Souite, have you added to your cart and checked out and see if the prices are the same?

I can't reproduce this. All my prices are the same across mobile, laptop, incognito, 2x diff vpn's.
