Sharing files to Media Player

Hey guys, i'm having a bit of a problem trying to set-up a network connection to my media to stream video files from my PC.

I'm using my ADSL 4port router on Vista 64bit to set-up the network. I'm able to see all the shared folders i have marked from the media player, but all the folders show up as empty except the public folder. I don't want to have to copy the files into the public folder every time i wanna watch something.

Any Suggestions?

Not sure if I understand the question; but I have recently installed TVersity to stream media to my XBox and it works better than Media Player - which just gave me headaches trying to get to work....

I know that you can use either VLC or WMP for streaming. So which program are you using?

Have you set EVERYONE access to the folders?

Yep, i've allowed everyone access to the folders but they show up empty from the media player.

The media player has in internal drive and a network to to link to a pc. I'm having trouble accessing the media over the network.
