I thought that this was one of the Sharks' better performances and losing to the top team thus far this year is not shameful.

I feel that the sharks are where the stormers were last year. They came close but just could not win the games that went down to the wire.

The sharks now have a very difficult road ahead.

Disagree with your initial opinion but agree with the rest.
That performance was a horrid one to watch. In all honesty we could've beaten them with a comfortable margin had our players either passed instead of hogging the ball, or not knocked it on - granted some of the passes leading to the knockon were atrocious!!

I will still always back our boys, but truly hope we get our act together. That try scored at the end was just the cherry on top for what was a fairly accurate assessment of how we played... in 10 minute stints :(

Come now Sharkies, the time for mediocre has long passed. Hopefully the bye week gives everyone a chance to settle down and start making some changes - I'm guessing some are going to say the coaching staff should be that change :)

Wet conditions lead to handeling errors. I felt sorry for the sharks but imo they really did not have such a horrid game as everyone seems to be shouting about.

Well they still have everything to play for with 8 points coming from their two bye weekends, and also playing all but their games, barring against the Cheetahs and Lions, at the Tank.

It grieves me to say that the biggest problem this team has right now is in the back line. There is absolutely zero imagination there.

When the ball comes from the loose play the opposition know exactly what's going to happen next - the Shark with the ball is going to crash into the nearest tackler and recycle backwards. Or they are going to launch an up-and-under and try to regather. The running lines are so predictable that it has made it an ugly game to watch. If by some miracle a Shark breaks the first line of defence there is hardly ever anyone there to offload to because they're all trying to recover from the previous phase of crash-and-recycle.

Who's in charge of the backs? Hugh Reece-Edwards. What's his coaching pedigree? Oh yes, he came last in his first season of coaching at Super rugby level before that ass-hat Strauli took over. And who's the boss of the coaches? Yep. That same guy, Strauli. Go figure.

That last post of mine may, or may not have, shown the dissappointment I felt over that game :D
Honestly I wouldn't take much of it back though. We could've won the game, we didn't. Yes conditions made for a tricky game, but I'm always surprised the Sharks of all teams are so unprepared for it! Durban Summer = humid.

It's just painful to see a team that looks great on paper perform so poorly.

I feel toward the forwards as you do the backs. Bar some of the now expected names, Bis, Alberts, Coetzee, our forwards seem to have that mentality of crash, drop, recycle. Sadly it seems like we're the only SA province still doing that...

I will agree that I wish we had some level of inventiveness when it comes to attack from the back. That is also limited to either spreading the ball wide or the odd inside pass which the opposition has already read. Again we have a lot of talent there and it's moments of their individual talent that get us going forward, but we just seem to be missing the 'gel' in the backline...

While Reece-Edwards and Strauli are cashing their paychecks they don't give a dump.

I actually don't think the forwards are playing that badly. It's not like they are losing the possession all that much (except when Du Plessis gets the ball). The scrums are solid enough, mauls seem to be OK, lineouts are a bugger-up because of the dude throwing in, but on the whole they are doing their job up front.

Pietie is also not carrying the ball as he should.

:D

Hopefully this bye is what we need to start playing well.... as much as it pains me, I'll accept us not making the playoff's (not saying we won't) if we're playing well for the rest of the season.

They have to give it horns from here on.

Actually, it isn't about how well the Sharks are doing (or not doing). It's just a stupid format of a competition now. I really don't want to watch them playing the Bulls and other local teams 4 times in one season. Also, the last few games I watched were so boringly predictable it's actually become excruciating if you're looking for some kind of stimulation.

As a whole this season has been anything but predicatable.

Team for this weekend. It actually looks very good. I'm liking the back line and can't wait to see what Jordaan does. He looked exciting the couple of times he has played.

15 Louis Ludik, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Paul Jordaan, 12 Tim Whitehead, 11 Lwazi Mvovo, 10 Patrick Lambie,9 Charl McLeod, 8 Keegan Daniel (captain ), 7 Marcell Coetzee, 6 Jacques Botes, 5 Anton Bresler, 4 Steven Sykes, 3 Jannie du Plessis / Wiehahn Herbst, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Tendai Mtawarira
Substitutes: 16 Craig Burden, 17 Wiehahn Herbst / Jannie du Plessis, 18 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 19 Jean Deysel, 20 Ryan Kankowski, 21 Frederic Michalak, 22 Meyer Bosman

Sharks. The team looks more solid up front. Two week break would have charged their energy. Home crowd.
